Home About us

The origins

It started in 2010 with two kittens from the same litter (Jamie and Paddy) and within a year I had adopted a third kitten (Tiny). These three little guys were my everything (japati) but I still thought something was missing. I was able to adopt our diva (Sherry) in 2016 and that went well for about 2 years until disaster struck in 2018 and Jamie died of HCM. Tiny passed away in 2021 and Paddy in 2023. Then it was just Sherry and me...

At the end of June I decided to get another kitten, but I didn't think it would be good for her to put a energetic kitten with Sherry (who was 7 years old at the time). So I decided to adopt 2 kittens. That's how our twins (Murphy and Davy) came to live with us. A month later I was also able to adopt our Brit (Donnie) and the bunch was complete.

Donnie and the Ragdolls

As stated above, three new kittens came to live with us in 2023: two Ragdolls and 1 British Longhair. When a customer approached me, she indicated that "Donnie and the Ragdolls" was a very nice band name and I thought so too! I continued to post on japati for a while, but because japati stands for my men, every post still hurt a little and that's why I decided to create a new Instagram account with the name @donnie.and.the.ragdolls. Since Instagram has its limits, I also created a website to provide more information.

Author

My name is Susan and I have had cats since 2010. Together with my four cat children we live in Dordrecht. I have actually been blogging since 2001 and have had several (weblog) websites since then, but since I wanted to make a new start, I set up this site in 2023. Because there was a question about where I got some products from, I blog about the (cat) products and indicate where they can be purchased. But I don't just blog about the products but also about cat behavior or lifestyle. Basically anything that interests me. I have no structure when I post a message and I plan most messages in advance.

Website

donnieandtheragdolls.nl and donnieandtheragdolls.com were registered on 15-09-2023 and then set up as a supporting blog website for my Instagram account: @donnie.and.the.ragdolls.
The website is in Dutch but also in English, especially for my foreign visitors.
The photos I use are taken by myself or otherwise indicated.
All opinions on this site are my own. The products I discuss have been tried and tested by me, and I only recommend items I believe in.

Frequently asked questions

It sometimes happens that I use the abbreviation "DATR", but what does it mean? "DATR" doesn't stand for anything other than "Donnie and the Ragdolls". So if you see that abbreviation somewhere it means nothing other than "Donnie and the Ragdolls". These could be my boys but also this website. I assume that it is clear in the text who or what I mean.

How nice that there is interest in working with me! We are certainly open to collaboration. Contact me via my contact form or via Instagram contact me and indicate what kind of collaboration you would like.

It may happen that you see the name "japati" somewhere on my websites. That's because japati represents my three males (my three first cats). They are the first 2 letters of their names. 'Ja' stands for Jamie, 'Pa' stands for Paddy and 'Ti' stands for Tiny (and if you add sh to it you have "japatish". The 'Sh' stands for Sherry). The best part about this is that they are in order from oldest to youngest. Jamie was my eldest, then came Paddy and lastly Tiny.

japatish has two meanings for me. First it means my males - my first four cats. Jamie, Paddy, Tiny and Sherry. Like "japati", these are the first two letters of their names.
And second is my business as a cat sitter.
